Calm Your Brain, This is Your Spot

For those who are interested, I usually update often and put information on here in the simplest form for you to see what is going on in your body.  Many of you enjoy this and find it interesting.

 

Your hands are the key to many ways to calm yourself. 

 

When your in a state of anxiety and stress and you have issues with your functioning or any other area relating to stress that creates a hyped sense of anxiety , the place in the brain this anxiety goes too, is the AMYGDALA.  This is where many many hormones are built and stored in the body especially for the Limbic system, so you can imagine if your worried it can really go into overdrive!!

This Limbic system is key in the brain that controls Hormones, Thyroid, Testicles, Lower region, Oxytocin, Oestrogen, Testosterone and if these hormones are out of balance then all sorts of things can go into over drive and not work!

You can calm yourself by using your hands by rubbing them together, this is a physiological sign of safety that you can relax and these are called Havening Touch.  Under the right circumstances it also assists in encoding by rubbing your hands together it sends out delta waves which are the calmest waves being created in your brain so stimulating the release of Oxytocin, Serotonin and GABA they reduce our cortisol output and help us shift to an emotional state to a more soothing state of being.

An Understanding too -

Amygdala -Links emotions to many brain abilities Memories, learning & senses and is a major area by brain stem for processing emotions (controls anger fear sadness and aggression)

Cortisol - The stress hormone - a cortisol test for urine, blood, saliva.  It affects every tissue in the body.

Oxytocin - Associated with Trust, Sexual Arousal and building relationships raise during Orgasm and cuddles

Serotonin - When stable gives the feeling of Stability, focus, happier and calmer, Low levels give depression

GAMA - Fastest brain waves 35Hz to oscillate to 100Hz Produced when working or intensely focussed

You can do the havening touch by stroking your palms, cheeks, forehead, calming yourself by stroking down in a soft motion.
